LGC signs collaboration agreement with NIFDC in China

LGC, an international science-based company and recognised leader in chemical and bioanalytical services and reference materials, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NIFDC, an agency of China’s State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA). This agreement marks the beginning of a key collaborative project between LGC and its new partner on business initiatives in the area of food analysis in China.

In 2009 LGC opened an office in Beijing, signalling a milestone in the company’s development and heralding discussions with government departments and private companies in China to collaborate on a range of business areas. Earlier this year the team relocated to new premises in Beijing, reflecting the growth of the team and the accelerated expansion of our activities in the region.   

Through the Beijing office, LGC is now promoting a wide range of proficiency testing schemes, including bespoke schemes, as well as our portfolio of European reference materials covering chemical, pharmaceutical, clinical, forensic, food, environmental, industrial and biological standards.

The LGC-NIFDC partnership will focus on technical collaboration, especially in new and emerging technologies related to reference materials including reference standards for Chinese medicines; joint seminars and workshops and the possible distribution by LGC of NIFDC reference materials in Europe and other territories.

The MOU between LGC and NIFDC was signed on 9 November in Beijing at the official opening of the NIFDC’s new Institute of Reference Standards and Standardisation (IRSS) attended by national dignitaries and staff from LGC China and LGC UK. David Richardson, LGC’s Chief Executive, and Dr Ma Shuangcheng, the first director of the new institute, signed the MoU. This was followed by the ‘unveiling of IRSS plaque’ to mark the official opening of the Institute and speeches from David Richardson and Dr Ray Ah-Sun, President of LGC China.
