Macrogen Clinical Laboratory Achieves CLIA Certification

Korean genomics services firm Macrogen said today that its Rockville, Md.-based subsidiary has received CLIA certification.

Macrogen Clinical Laboratory, launched in late 2012, offers diagnostic testing for genetic diseases through clinical whole-exome sequencing and targeted sequencing, and provides a "total genomic solution" for the clinical and research area, its Medical Director Sechin Cho said in a statement. He added that the company will expand its services to include DNA chip-based neo-genome scanning and cancer diagnostic panels, as well as transcriptome sequencing.

Macrogen is based in Seoul, South Korea and is equipped with 30 next-generation sequencers from Illumina, Roche, and Life Technologies' Ion Proton business, it said.
