Herzan was founded in 1992 by Ann Scanlan in Orange County, California. Originally, Herzan was established as an American subsidiary of Herz Company Ltd., a Japanese company specializing in vibration control. The name Herzan comes from the amalgamation of 'Herz' and 'Ann'.

Herzan started out importing large optical tables from Herz in Japan and active vibration isolation systems from Table Stable in Switzerland. We collaborated with Herz to produce the first line of AEK acoustic enclosures. Gradually, the needs of our customers shifted towards smaller, more customized solutions. Herzan changed its focus to desktop and modular isolation solutions which could be scaled to fit specific instruments.

In the late nineties, Herzan evolved beyond a simple distributorship. We began domestically producing the AEK acoustic enclosures in 2000. This began a process of developing the enclosures' design and features to meet the specific needs of the nanotechnology research community. Herzan partnered with instrument makers to develop products built around their instruments. In so doing, we became a comprehensive solutions provider, offering capabilities in engineering, design, production, assembly, and service and support.

In 2002, Herzan became a fully independent, US-owned operation. Since that time, we have grown substantially in terms of sales, staff, and offerings. In addition to high performance vibration isolation systems and acoustic enclosures, our product line has grown to include EMI isolation solutions and site survey tools which address the entire range of environmental noise sources.
