First introduced in 2002, the iCyte® Automated Imaging Cytometer is designed to meet the demand in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical markets for automated high-content cellular analyzers which provide for higher throughput. Among its many advanced features is the ability to precisely measure cellular DNA content – essential in toxicological studies – and simultaneously combine the information gathered from these measurements with other molecular markers and cell morphology. The iCyte’s unique software offers unprecedented flexibility in data analysis.
While the instrument relies on the basic laser scanning technology, its unique features include:
  • Morphological and quantitative features for very high content cell-based analysis
  • Multiple lasers and photomultipliers for flexible dye combinations
  • Compatibility with a variety of carriers, including microtiter plates and microscope slides, for unsurpassed specimen flexibility
  • Automated or manual operation modes
  • Cellular and tissue specimen analysis
  • Open assay development and data reporting platforms to accommodate rapidly changing discovery needs
iCyte enables fully automated, walk-away analysis of cellular specimens. New features include:
  • Robotic specimen loader with 45-tray capacity, allowing walk-away experimental analysis
  • Optional iNovator™ Application Development Toolkit, enabling fully automated tissue identification and scan region selection. Accurate quantitative measurement of tissue fluorescence is enhanced by novel background fluorescence subtraction techniques
  • Flexible iBrowser™ Data Integration software, facilitating post-acquisition analysis of large volumes of generated data

iColor combines the advantages of flow cytometry, fluorescence image analysis, and immunohistochemistry in one unique system. iColor allows simultaneous analysis of both fluorescent and chromatic staining in the same specimens, opening new applications to the power of quantitative analysis.
